If you’ve been working out long enough- better yet if you’ve been paying attention in past videos- you may have heard the term “eccentric movement” being thrown around. While you may initially think this means doing strange or weird movements, it’s actually quite the opposite. Well it may seem slightly weird at first, eccentric workouts are simply those that focus on the negative part of the movement, as the muscle is lengthened and stretched. The key factor in eccentric workouts is to not let gravity get the best of you, focusing on slowing any form of descent, keeping it all under control.
While that may already be plenty to deal with, get ready to couple that with explosive movements, which help develop your fast twitch muscle fibers. These greatly add to speed and strength, allowing you to execute more complex movements such as muscle ups and one-arm pull-ups.
