]]>We've all been there before: scrolling through social media, seeing an insane workout video and thinking, "There's no way I can do that." But what if we told you that trying impossible exercises can actually be beneficial? Not only does it challenge your body in new ways, but it can also give you a sense of accomplishment and boost your confidence.
Of course, we're not suggesting that you attempt a one-handed push-up without proper training or preparation. But adding challenging exercises to your routine, such as ring push-ups or dip variations, can push you out of your comfort zone and help you break through plateaus. Plus, with practice and consistency, you may surprise yourself with what you can achieve.
Incorporating impossible exercises into your routine can also have mental benefits. As you challenge yourself and achieve new goals, you'll develop a stronger sense of self-efficacy and confidence. You may also find that the mental discipline and focus required for these exercises carry over into other areas of your life.

Generally, it all boils down to what your goals are. Calisthenics has a greater focus on relative strength, whereas weight training builds more on absolute strength. Relative strength is the maximum force exerted in relation to body weight or muscle size. Absolute strength on the other hand is the maximum force an athlete can exert with his or her whole body- or part of the body- irrespective of body or muscle size. In viewing those two definitions, what each training style focuses on seems like a no-brainer, but you don’t necessarily have to only focus on one. Therefore, if you're ever short on time or resources, you can instantly increase your overload by utilizing only one arm which will also increase the resistance. This progressive overload ensures that you will reach the threshold needed to hit hypertrophy which contributes to anabolic strength.
Mastering this move will also test your muscle symmetry by isolating arms and putting each to the test during each set.
